By Iar Connacht February 15 2006
The Connacht Rugby Supporters aims are twofold: Firstly, to raise the status of Connacht rugby to ensure that any threat to the future of the professional game in Connacht is destroyed; Secondly; to support the province’s sides wherever they play throughout Ireland, Wales, Scotland and beyond.

The 2003-04 season was the most successful in the provinces 119 year history with Connacht reaching the semi-finals of both the Parker pen European Challenge Cup and the Celtic Cup. While the results may not have gone our way these achievements raised the profile of Connacht rugby to a new level.

Last season hopes were high that we can surpass last year’s achievements and bring some well earned silverware across the Shannon. Unfortunately, these hopes were ultimately not realised. Connacht did once again reach the semi-finals of the European Challenge Cup, but were ultimately out-gunned by the eventual winners, Sale Sharks.

The new format for Heineken Cup qualification from the Celtic league provides Connacht an opportunity to qualify for the HC for the first time since its inception. This provides a huge boost to both the team and its supporters. We now have two routes of qualification, via the Celtic League and the Parker Pen Cup. These new circumstances mean that each and every game in the both competitions in this season is of paramount importance.

The Supporters Club’s aims are twofold:

Firstly, to raise the status of Connacht rugby to ensure that any threat to the future of the professional game in Connacht is destroyed;

Secondly; to support all of the province’s sides wherever they play throughout Ireland, Wales, Scotland and beyond.
Further details on each of these can be found throughout the site.

This site is under development and any ideas you may have or contributions you wish to make are welcome.
