Wing Wizard Pirouettes His Way To Derby

Teale - Shit
By Oscar Wilde January 11 2007
Gary Teale has moved to Derby County in a £600,000 move, leaving maidens weeping openly on the streets of Wigan, and many a die-hard Latics fan threatening to kill himself.

You can vote for your favourite Tealy moment on the main page.

A firm fans favourite, Teale inspired the songs “Teale Will Tear You Apart Again”, “Who Needs Ronaldinho, We’ve Got Gary Tealio” and “Boooooooo”.

On sactioning the move, Paul Jewell said: "This season, one or two niggling injuries have hampered his run in the team, and I have plenty of options on the right side of midfield.

Gary is the sort of player who just buckles down, gets on with his job quietly and never complains if he's out of the team, and I feel he deserves the chance of permanent first team football, which hopefully he will get at Derby.

"Tealy has been with me since my first season at Wigan, and I've seen him grow as a player. He's gone from a raw potential talent into a full international and he has played a large role in helping us to get where we are today."

Also leaving the JJB is David Wright, moving for an undisclosed fee (believed to be around £200,000) to Ipswich Town.

On this particular move, Jewell said: “Wrighty is a terrific pro who has worked really hard to get his chance with us after a long period on the sidelines.

“He’s never moaned and has always tried his best for me, which as a manager is all you can ask for. Ironically, he’s had his longest spell in the team for a while in recent weeks and had done well, proving to himself that he can perform at the highest level.

“However, I owe it to him to give him the chance of permanent first-team football, which hopefully he will get at Ipswich.”

Both Teale and Wright were out of contract at the end of this season.

In addition to all this madness, Mike Pollit has gone on a months loan to Burnley.
