The first practice session of the Japanese Grand Prix weekend was held
in sunny conditions, with the temperatures reaching 23° C. The perfect
conditions allowed both BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers to successfully
complete their scheduled programmes.
Robert once again set the faster lap time of the two team-mates. While
working on set-up and carrying out tyre evaluations, the Pole completed
a total of 26 laps. He set his personal best time on his ninth lap at
the end of his first stint. With his 1:20.160-minute lap, he
temporarily held fifth position and despite the constantly permanently
improving conditions, he still held eighth when the session ended.
Meanwhile, Nick also completed an impressive number of laps on his way
to preparing his BMW Sauber F1.08 for the remainder of the weekend. The
German completed a total of 23 laps and like his team-mate he set his
personal fastest time rather early, on his 11th lap. At the end of the
day, he finished 14th on the time sheets, with his 1:20.628-minute lap.
In the second practice session, starting at 14:00hrs local time
(06:00hrs BST), Robert and Nick will continue their preparation work
for the qualifying session on Saturday and the race on Sunday.
