BMW to play a major role in Championship result
By BMW Sauber F1 Team
October 4 2008
30 points are still up for grabs before the end of the season in the Drivers' World Championship. This means that five drivers still theoretically have a chance of winning the title, including Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld .
The 2008 Formula One season could hardly be more exciting. Happily, the BMW Sauber F1 Team will play a major role in the battle for the top positions in both the Drivers' and Constructors' Championships right up to the end of the season.

After the misfortune suffered by Felipe Massa and Ferrari while refuelling in Singapore, World Championship leader Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) now holds a seven-point lead over the Brazilian. Robert is 20 points behind Hamilton, who has 80 points to his name after 15 races. Nick, on 56 points, is back in fifth, just one point behind reigning World Champion Kimi Raikkonen.

It is even closer at the top of the Constructors' World Championship. Results at the night race in Singapore mean that McLaren now leads the championship on 135 points - just one point ahead of Ferrari. The BMW Sauber F1 Team follows in third on 120 points. With 54 points still up for grabs, the team from Munich and Hinwil still has a chance of winning the title.

Regardless of how the season ends, the team has achieved all the goals it set out at the beginning of the year, and can look ahead with confidence as it continues to prepare for 2009.
