Kubica qualifies for third row of the grid
By BMW Sauber F1 Team June 23 2008
n France, Nick Heidfeld will start alongside a former team-mate - and when it comes to grid positions, he and his team-mate, Robert Kubica, will benefit from the penalty for a McLaren driver. On the grid for the race, Robert will share row three with Heikki Kovalainen. While Nick will start the race from eleventh position, alongside former BMW Sauber test driver Sebastian Vettel (Toro Rosso).

- For the fourth time in his Formula One career, Robert will start from sixth on a Grand Prix grid. In every race he has contested from this grid position, the Pole has succeeded in scoring points. In the 2006 Italian Grand Prix, he even made it to the podium by finishing third.

- At Magny-Cours, both BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers benefit from a ten-position grid penalty for McLaren's Lewis Hamilton who qualified third. Both Robert and Nick gain one position on the grid.

- Robert is contesting his 30th GP this Sunday in France. For Nick, it will be the 142nd Formula One race of his career.

- For the eleventh time in his career, Nick is eleventh on a Formula One grid. The last race he contested from this position was the 2006 French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours.

- So far, eleventh position hasn't proved to be a promising one for Nick. Only once has he scored a point from this grid position: in the 2006 French Grand Prix, when he finished eighth.

- Nick is contesting his ninth French Grand Prix. The best grid position the German has secured at Magny-Cours to date was the seventh place he clinched last year. At the same time, finishing fifth in that race also represented Nick's best race result in France.

- In the 2007 French GP, his first appearance in France, Robert qualified fourth - subsequently gaining the same position in the race.

 - In the team-internal qualifying battle of the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers Robert has extended his lead over Nick to 8:0.
