F1 Engine Freeze until 2018 confirmed

Following the publication of the official 2008 Formula One race calendar, the FIA World Council has announced further important decisions. Among other things, the framework of the current engine regulations has been extended until 2018. .
Following the publication of the official 2008 Formula One race calendar, the FIA World Council has announced further important decisions. Among other things, the framework of the current engine regulations has been extended until 2018. .
According to the will of the FIA World Council, all teams will continue to drive with eight-cylinder engines for the next ten years. The aggregates will also maintain their 2.4-litre size. In theory changes to theses rules are possible, only, however, by unanimous vote of all manufacturers and with a two-year notice.
In other words, no changes are to be expected when it comes to the future homologation, the cessation of the engine development. Improvements regarding reliability and efficiency are still allowed while it is forbidden to change decisive components such as the engine block.
