Italian GP: Saturday Morning Practice
By BMW Sauber F1 Team September 8 2007
Due to a heavy crash involving Ferrari's Kimi Räikkönen, the third free practice session for the Italian GP was red-flagged for 20 minutes. The Finn survived the accident unharmed. Despite the shortened session, the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers once again confirmed their excellent shape.

Neither Nick nor Robert allowed the reduced track time in session three to impact their competitiveness. Nick completed three stints totalling 15 laps. On the first timed lap of his final stint, the German crossed the finish line at 1:22.855 minutes to finish fourth.

Robert, who had aborted his first stint without having set a timed lap, had just started his first flyer when the session was red-flagged. However, he completed two more outings after the re-start, posting his personal best time on the 11th of his 14 laps: Despite losing some fractions of a second in traffic, Robert set a time of 1:23.287 minutes to finish fifth. The fastest time of the session was set by McLaren's Fernando Alonso who lapped the 5.793-kilometre "Autodromo Nazionale di Monza" in 1:22.054 seconds.

We will have to wait for the qualifying session, starting at 14:00hrs local time (13:00hrs BST), to discover the BMW Sauber F1.07's true competitiveness at Monza.
