Italian GP: Friday Prac 2
By BMW Sauber F1 Team September 7 2007
In the second free practice session for the Italian Grand Prix, the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers, Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld, completed an extensive preparation programme. Robert secured fourth position on the time sheets, while Nick finished seventh.

On their way to fine-tuning the set-up of their BMW Sauber F1.07 cars and performing further tyre evaluations, Robert and Nick did a huge number of laps experiencing no problems whatsoever. At the end of the day, the BMW Sauber F1 Team pairing was clearly the busiest of the entire field.

Robert and Nick both had to abort one of their stints when Super Aguri's Anthony Davidson stopped between the two Lesmos. The session was subsequently red-flagged in order to remove the stranded car.

Robert completed 44 laps over five stints - running on both the soft and medium compounds. On the first flying lap of his fourth stint the Pole set a personal fastest lap time of 1:23.599 minutes to secure fourth position. Nick added 38 laps to the Munich and Hinwil based squad's massive mileage. In the end, he set a personal best time of 1:23.821 minutes, thus finishing seventh.

McLaren's Fernando Alonso was the quickest driver in session two. The Spaniard lapped the "Autodromo Nazionale di Monza" in 1:22.386 minutes.

In the third free practice session, held on Saturday from 11:00 to 12:00hrs local time (10:00 to 11:00hrs BST), the BMW Sauber F1 Team will complete its preparations for the remainder of the weekend.
