With the weather being rainy most of the day and temperatures reaching
26 degrees Celsius, eleven cars took to the track on the third day of
testing in Monza. Fernando Alonso (McLaren) was the fastest driver of
the session, clocking a time of 1:23.490 minutes.
Due to the difficult weather conditions, Robert lapped the
5.793-kilometre track only 48 times, covering a distance of 278
kilometres. The BMW Sauber F1 Team driver set a personal best time of
1:24.413 minutes.
It took quite a long time for the track to dry out because of water
running onto the surface in various places. Robert completed several
laps in wet conditions in order to gather data using standard wet
tyres. After the track had dried out, Robert worked on the set-up of
the car and found some promising solutions.
Due to bad weather conditions in the morning of day three, it was
decided to extend the test by one day. Robert will continue driving
tomorrow hoping to complete the preparations for the Italian Grand Prix.
