Competitive Showing In Practice 3
By BMW Sauber F1 Team April 7 2007
In the third free practice session for the Malaysian Grand Prix, the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers, Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld, successfully completed their preparations for the remainder of the weekend - and set competitive lap times.

As was the case yesterday, the BMW Sauber F1 Team pairing was sent out on different strategies to work on set-up and tyre evaluations for qualifying and the race.

Robert completed four stints totalling 16 laps and set his personal fastest lap (1:35.385 minutes) in the closing stages of the session. This turned out to be a truly competitive lap time as the young Pole finished fourth - just 0.574 seconds slower than pace-setter Lewis Hamilton (McLaren).

Nick, however, set his personal fastest lap time (1:36.160 minutes) in the first half of the session, on the first timed lap of his second stint. In total, the German completed four stints comprising 20 laps.

In the qualifying session, which starts at 14:00hrs local time (07:00hrs BST), all the teams will have to put their cards on the table and we will find out where the BMW Sauber F1 Team stands when it comes to its competitiveness at the "Sepang International Circuit".
