Ossie Desperate for a Derby Victory
By Rhys Lewis
March 20 2006
Leon Osman is desperate for a victory at Anfield on Saturday over arch rivals Liverpool. Osman believes the 4-1 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday was crucial in giving Everton the confidence and momentum to go and get a result at Anfield.
Osman, like Everton, has been in outstanding form since the turn of the year scoring 4 goals and creating many more goals for the team. And Osman believes that the way Everton are playing they have no reason to fear Liverpool and can go there and win. Osman also believes that it is especially important to get a victory to wipe out the bad memories of the embarrassing defeat to Liverpool at Goodison in December.

Osman said, 'When we played Liverpool at home, it was really dissappointing and we were well beaten. I was a sub and never got on either, which was really frustrating.'

Everton are the form team in the Premiership in 2006 and host a better record this calender year than league leaders Chelsea. The only time they have been beaten was away at Newcastle a few weeks ago. Before this run Everton were looking at a relegation dog fight but having won 8, drawn 2 and lost only 1 of the last 11 they are on the fringes of a European spot.

'We are definatly coming good at the right time, picking up points and if we can get ourselves into Europe, we will all be happy.'

Everton havn't won at Anfield since Kevin Campbell scored in a 1-0 win in September 1999. Since then Everton have only won 1 Merseyside derby so the blue half of Merseyside will be praying this run at Anfield without a victory comes to an end this weekend.
