Ellis Fee Decided
By Mark Heys April 23 2006
A tribunal has stated that Bolton Wanderers must pay Exeter City an initial fee of £90,000 for teenage central defender Mark Ellis.
Ellis 17, joined the Wanderers last summer following a successful trial spell but a compensation package could not be agreed with the Grecians who now play their football in the conference league.

Further payments totalling up to £500,000 will be paid to Exeter after Ellis appears in a certain number of first team games with another £150,000 shelled out should the player receive full international recognition.

"We are delighted with the Ellis figures as we feel the settlement is about right for a player with his ability." remarked Exeter sporting director Julian Tagg upon hearing the news

The Plymouth-born youngster was in the provisional Bolton squad to face Watford in an FA Cup tie in January but didn't manage to get in amongst the final sixteen selected.

Bolton's interest in young talent is now widening as players from Poland, America and Australia all represent the youth academy at present with some even appearing regularly in reserve line ups.
