It was a one sided display throughout most of the evening and the Blues where well in front after just 25 minutes following goals from Julian Gray, Oliver Allen and Matthew Birley.
Former Crystal Palace winger Gray started off the rout on eleven minutes when netting from close range after a shot by Marcos Painter had initially been saved by Wanderers keeper Chris Howarth.
A minute later Birmingham increased their lead when Allen latched onto a long ball by Gray to fire the ball confidently past Howarth and if that wasn't enough a super strike by midfielder Birley put the game out of reach with just over twenty minutes played.
Smith pulled a goal back for Wanderers as the first half came to a close but Blues substitute Nick Wright sealed the victory with just over ten minutes of the game to play with a shot from the edge of the box.
The young Wanderers had started the month of April in a rich vein of form having acquired three points in the recent games against Middlesbrough and Wigan Athletic but their lack of experience yesterday night was evident against a Birmingham side fielding many first team stars.
Trips to Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United will end the Wanderers involvement in the FA Premier Reserve league for another season at the start of next month.
