Polish youth international goalkeeper Przemyslaw Kazmierczak put in a fine performance for the Wanderers in what was his first full start for the second string this season.
Kazmierczak denied Liverpool trio Ramon Calliste, Danny Guthrie and Antonio Barragan in a first half period which saw the Reds seniority make all the difference.
Bolton lost in-form defender Mark Ellis just after the half hour mark but substitute Bradley Hill did well enough to plug the gap left by the former Exeter City youngster.
The second half was a similar story as substitute Adam Hamill curled an effort wide whilst former Manchester United youth Calliste and young midfielder Lee Peltier saw their efforts saved by the Bolton keeper.
