Polish youth internationals Przemyslaw Kazmierczak and Blazej Augustyn are handed rare starts as Jimmy Phillips team look to get back to winning ways against their North West counterparts.

Kazmierczak starts in goal at the expense of Sam Ashton who is demoted down to the substitutes bench, whilst Oman custodian Ali Al-Habsi is away with the first team squad in Dubai.

Spaniard Oscar Perez is named in the reserve squad for the first time following his move from Cordoba two weeks ago.

Liverpool coach Hugh McAuley names first teamers Luis Garcia and Daniel Agger in his line up, whilst Jack Hobbs, a Bolton target last summer, also gets a chance to play.

David Martin, son of former England and West Ham defender Alvin Martin, starts in goal for the Merseysiders following his recent move from the Milton Keynes Dons midway through last month.

Earlier on in the season goals from Jared Borgetti and Jarek Fojut where not enough as the Reds ran out 3-2 winners at the County Ground in September thanks to a late goal from David Raven.
