Arsenal Gunning For Bolton Revenge
By Mark Heys & Lucy Kay January 27 2006
Arsenal supporter Lucy Kay gave Walking Down The Manny Road a few minutes of her time this week to talk about revenge, expensive teenagers and this weekend's FA Cup clash at Bolton.

Mark: Arsenal haven't had the best of times when visiting the Reebok Stadium in recent seasons so how do you see the game going at the weekend?

Lucy: I think it will be a big game for us and you lot too, we've never had it easy when we've played at the Reebok, and i won't be expecting an easy encounter, you lot won in our last game. i think our players will be gunning for revenge, but we did overturn you last season in the FA Cup, aaaw the memories!. I think we'll match you lot, we will probably be fielding a young side with no Henry or Gilberto. I think it'll be a draw with a replay at Highbury.

Mark: Many critics claim that the Gunners heartbeat has now been ripped out due to the sale of Patrick Vieira to Juventus. Do you feel Arsenal have yet to replace their ex-captain?

Lucy: No, don't think we've have replaced him yet and it will take time. Vieira was our captain, stong tall and not afraid to get stuck in and thats what we're missing right now. We cant dwell on it though, we need to move on!

Our new signing Diaby is being expected to fit the bill, but he still needs time to learn. I think Wenger should have bought a ready made midfielder an experienced one, to help shift the load off Gilberto as he's our only experienced midfielder. We have good prospects like the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Flamini so we'll just have to see what he does in the summer transfer window. Our main aim now is to get a good defender.

Mark: Arsene Wenger recently signed 16-year old Theo Walcott from Southampton. Do you think it is unfair to subject such a young player to vast media attention or is he mature beyond his years?

Lucy: I think Theo Walcott will be looked after well, his got a good family behind him and he's a level headed person, and won't let his ego take him. He's already done an interview and from what i saw he's a very humble and intellectual person. His also modest too which is good. i think he'll be more than capable of staying under the radar and not letting the media attention affect him.

Mark: What are your views on the new Emirates Stadium?, Have you managed to see the development first hand?

Lucy: I think us bulilding a new the stadium is a fantastic, the amount of money that will come in through the gates alone is more than that of a small Premiership club gets from its whole ground! its a very exciting prospect, and I for one can't wait to see the finished article! our expected annual income will be more than that of Manchester United and they have a 68,000 stadium! it's just so exciting I can't wait!

It was ideal for us to get a new 60,000 stadium, a club of our stature needed to have a big stadium to at least compete with the other major clubs in Europe, financially especially.

Mark: Thierry Henry may miss the Bolton game, if so then who will Bolton have to keep their eye on and who do you feel is the Wanderers most dangerous threat to Arsenal?

Lucy: Robin Van Persie will be the one you lot have to look out for tommorow, also a very exciting propect of ours Kerrea Gilbert is one to watch for aswell, his pace and skill is one to be praised! and he's only 18!
