Reserves Take On Toon Army
By Mark Heys January 16 2006
Bolton Wanderers reserves will be hoping to build on last weeks useful point at Everton as they take on Newcastle United at the County Ground tonight.
The 1-1 draw at against the Toffees last time out halted a bad run of form which had seen Jimmy Phillips side lose five consecutive matches since the end of October so a win this evening would be a big confidence booster for all concerned.

In this fixture last season a Ricky Shakes goal proved to be a mere consolation as the Wanderers lost by a 2-1 scoreline.

Bolton include new signing Ali Al-Habsi in their starting line up for the first time and there is also a place for striker Leslie Thompson who scored the winner in Friday's FA Youth Cup match against Crewe Alexandra.

Newcastle name Irish midfielder Alan O'Brien in their line up just a few days after he made his Premiership debut at Fulham. Fellow fringe players Tony Caig and Martin Brittain are also included.

Bolton Wanderers Reserves: Ali Al-Habsi, Bradley Hill, Scott Jamieson, Matthew Cassidy, Mark Ellis, Jarostaw Fojut, Leslie Thompson, Dale Whitehead, Johann Smith, Bedi Buval, Danny Stott

Subs From: Mark Charlesworth, Przemyslaw Kazimerczak, Michael Roddy, Sean Mountford, Rhys Powell

Newcastle United Reserves: Tony Caig, Chris Shanks, Chris Farman, Liam Atkin, David Edgar, Kris Gate, Martin Brittain, Daryl Smylie, Carl Finnigan, Matty Pattison, Alan O'Brien
