The veteran French centre half came on as a substitute for stand in skipper Ricardo Gardner in the second half and his goal in this hard earned draw means that the Trotters are now in the hat for the UEFA Cup knockout stages of which the final 32 are to be drawn this coming Friday.
Early on in the game the Wanderers had the better of the play as El-Hadji Diouf worked tirelessly to try and unlock a Sevilla team which had made eight changes from the previous game against Barcelona at the weekend.
Diouf had the first clear cut chance on eight minutes when beating a couple of opposition defenders with a fine solo run but his resulting shot went over the crossbar of veteran Spanish goalkeeper Notario who was making a rare start.
Defender Radhi Jaidi then showed great athletisism in the opponents area for Bolton as he hooked over another chance just a few minutes later after Kevin Davies had flicked on a long throw in by Jay-Jay Okocha.
The hosts then had a series of corners one of which was nearly diverted into the Seville net by a Spanish defender after Khalilou Fadiga had produced a pin point delivery from the right. Okocha unfortunately fired the second resulting corner from Hidetoshi Nakata high into the stands.
Sevilla defended well and where more than equal to Bolton in terms of their workrate but the Lancashire side shaded proceedings owing to the fact that they had created the more of the chances.
However the Spaniards first real chance just before the half hour was perhaps the best chance of the first half as Brazilian striker Luis Fabiano flicked the ball skillfully over Bolton's in form defender Tal Ben-Haim and fired in a shot right across Walker's goal which cannoned back off the post.
The Wanderers knew they had been let off with the shot but neither side could find the killer touch to take the lead and the game was more about solid defensive play as opposed to a flurry of chances.
Five minutes before the break Walker was tested for the first time in the game as he got down well to gather a low shot from the young Sevilla midfielder Pablo Ruiz Barrero who was making his first start of the campaign.
The second half saw Sam Allardyce bring on the reliable N'Gotty in place of Gardner and the ex-Marseille and Paris Saint Germain player took up his usual position in the centre of defence with Tal Ben-Haim moving over to the right and Nicky Hunt moving over to the left.
Fadiga had the first attempt of the second half but his shot from the left hand side of the area frustratingly screwed over the crossbar as Bolton anxiously looked to find a way through in the game.
Ricardo Vaz-Te's introduction to the fray proved to be a lucky charm for the third game in succession as the Trotters persistence finally paid off. Just as in the recent Arsenal and Aston Villa games the young Portuguese striker livened up the match and it was his flick on from Fadiga's set piece which presented N'Gotty with a goal from close range to give Bolton the lead.
Bolton had started the second period in a lively manner and the goal by N'Gotty was well deserved as it was the Frenchman's first since the Carling Cup Semi Final win over Aston Villa just under two years ago.
The introduction of Adriano Corriea brought Sevilla back into the game and he made an immediate impact by taking advantage of a rare N'Gotty mistake to fire the equalising goal far into the corner of Walker's goal with fifteen minutes left on the clock.
Wanderers, although showing slight nerves, kept possession well for the final quarter of the match and even the introduction of Sevilla's on loan star striker Javier Saviola could not yield a matchwinning goal.
In fact it was Bolton's substitute Vaz-Te who had the final chance to win the game as his shot in the 86th minute was saved well by Notario. The teenage striker was in two minds as to whether to shoot or to square the ball to an onrushing team mate after bursting into the area.
This result marks another proud moment in the history of Bolton Wanderers Football Club and the team will now await to see who they are drawn up against in the final stages of the competition on Friday.
