Manchester City Res. 3 Bolton Wanderers Res. 1
By Mark Heys November 29 2005
An inexperienced Bolton Wanderers reserve team where soundly beaten by local rivals Manchester City earlier on this evening as two Bradley Wright-Phillips goals in the first half spelled another defeat at the Regional Athletics Arena.
Substitute Robert Sissons gave the Wanderers youngsters a glimmer of hope with his second goal of the reserve league season but an Ishmael Miller penalty killed off any hopes of a late fightback for Bolton.

The Trotters included Fabrice Fernandes and Ivan Campo in their starting eleven but their experience was unable to provide the Lancashire side with any spark as they went in search of their first win in a month.

City took the lead on 20 minutes when Wright-Phillips curled the ball past Sam Ashton in the Bolton goal following some good work down the left by Antoine Sibierski.

The young forward fired home his second goal of the night just before the half time interval after Karl Bermingham and Ishmael Miller had put the Wanderers defenders on the backfoot.

England youth international Sissons gave the visitors some hope early on 50 minutes as he breached an otherwise excellent City defence to tap the ball home past experienced Belgian keeper Geert De Vleiger.

Wright-Phillips had a hand in City's third shortly before the hour as he was felled by Bolton's Polish defender Jarostaw Fojut in the area. Miller stepped up to take the resulting penalty and confidently stroked the ball past Ashton for the matchwinner.
