Last week the Wanderers saw their reserve game at Birmingham City abandoned at half time due to a waterlogged pitch so they will be hoping for better luck against their near neighbours in Leyland tonight.
A late penalty from Nigerian international Blessing Kaku gave the Trotters a slender victory in this fixture back in March. Teenage striker Ricardo Vaz-Te was on target for Bolton in the reverse fixture four months previously as both sides fought out a 1-1 draw at Morecambe's Christie Park.
Vaz-Te leads the Bolton attack this evening and is the most senior player on show for the home side having clocked up a handful of Premiership appearances for the Wanderers first team.
Full back Rhys Powell is rested by coach Jimmy Phillips after being away on international duty with the Welsh U-21 squad last week.
Blackburn reserve boss Glyn Hodges includes former Liverpool midfielder David Thompson in his squad for the short journey across Lancashire. The 28-year old is on the road back to full fitness after a long term knee problem.
Goalkeeper Steven Drench is also back in the Rovers side after spending time on trial with League Two side Bury at the end of October.
