The midfielder grabbed his seventh goal of the season and his fourth in the last five games as he superbly converted a lay off by Kevin Davies in the 32nd minute.
Spurs played their part in an entertaining match as they hit the woodwork on two seperate occasions and had a perfectly good goal by Jermain Defoe ruled out by the linesman's flag in the opening period.
Stelios Giannakopoulos and Abdoulaye Diagne-Faye had two early strikes on goal but a combination of good defending and slightly inaccurate shooting meant that the Wanderers had to wait a while to break down their opponents who had yet to lose on the road before last night.
England midfielder Jermaine Jenas then went close for Tottenham at the other end but his shot was to sail wide of Jussi Jaaskelainen's goal. Jenas had already played at the Reebok Stadium once this season in one of his final games for Newcastle United.
Edgar Davids tried to pick out his Spurs collegue Mido but the veteran Dutch midfielder's pass was gathered safely by Wanderers custodian Jaaskelainen in the danger zone.
Just after the half hour mark Nolan put Wanderers in front as he fired an unstoppable shot past Robinson to continue his fine recent form in front of goal.
Defoe thought he had put the Londoners back on level terms soonafter and seemed quite bemused that the referee's assistant had ruled his effort out for infringement. Replays later showed that the England striker had a perfectly good case to feel aggreived.
Korean left-back Lee Young-Po nearly got his first goal for Spurs following a neat turn but he was to squander an opportunity for a pre-half time leveller by firing wide of goal.
El-Hadji Diouf and Davies combined four minutes before the interval to set up Nolan but the former England U-21 star saw his effort come back off Robinson's post.
An entertaining first half was brought to a close by referee Howard Webb. On one hand Bolton, inspired by their skipper Nolan, looked good for their lead, yet on the other hand Spurs rued a couple of missed chances and an offside decision that never was.
Kevin Davies was replaced by Mexican hot shot Jared Borgetti a few minutes after the re-start after having appeared to take a knock. This change disrupted Bolton's fluency slightly as Spurs began to get themselves more into the game.
Spurs duo Jermain Defoe and Michael Carrick both had chances to score but Defoe was to fire wide after getting past Ricardo Gardner whilst Carrick was foiled by Bolton's man mountain Abdoulaye Diagne-Faye.
On the hour Hidetoshi Nakata entered the proceedings for the Wanderers by coming on for Stelios Giannakopoulos who had earlier received an inintentional kick in the face by Tottenham defender Ledley King.
Spurs themselves made changes as striker Robbie Keane came on in place of left-back Lee. Coach Martin Jol was hoping that the tricky Irishman's influence would bring them back in the game.
Bolton defended well to counter act some Spurs attacking pressure to further strengthen the opinion that the Reebok Stadium is now becoming bit of a fortress for the Trotters.
Wanderers defender Radhi Jaidi headed wide of the goal with twenty minutes left on the clock following a corner from Gary Speed and substitute Borgetti saw his effort on the turn blocked by Robinson moments later.
Tottenham had a late flurry of activity in the closing stages in an attempt to equalise as Jenas saw his acrobatic shot cleared off the line by Speed and both Mido and Paul Stalteri hit the woodwork.
Bolton can be pleased at gaining their fourth straight 1-0 win and this confidence stands them in good stead going into the international break next week.
