Bolton Wanderers Res. 0 West Brom Res. 2
By Mark Heys October 18 2005
A young Bolton Wanderers team including new signing Martin Djetou was defeated by two goals to nil at home to West Bromwich Albion last night.
Albion scored both of their goals in the first half at the County Ground courtesy of defender Rob Davies and wantaway Japanese international midfielder Junichi Inamoto.

Baggies winger Brian Smilkie started the ball rolling in the third minute when his low left wing cross found the unmarked Davies in the area to fire the ball past Wanderers goalkeeper Chris Howarth.

James Sinclair and Bedi Buval both tried to force an immediate response for Bolton but they found that young Polish goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak was in excellent form early doors.

The West Midlands side had a number of experienced faces in their line up and it was one such face in Inamoto who doubled their advantage when capitalising on a mistake by Bolton keeper Howarth.

Former Cardiff City striker Robert Earnshaw came close to adding a third Albion goal but the Welsh international was to be denied due to a combination of post and crossbar.

Buval wasted a good opportunity to restore some Bolton pride shortly after the second half began as he headed a pinpoint cross from full back Danny Stott over Kuszczak's crossbar.

Howarth redeemed himself for his earlier error by saving well from the lively Earnshaw who was being partned by one time Wigan Athletic favourite Nathan Ellington.

Lee Baker was sent off for the Baggies late on in the game but the Wanderers could not force a goal for their second half effort meaning that they are still looking for their first home reserve win of the season.
