Ian Bennett and Kelvin Etuhu had put City two goals to the good before Abdoulaye Diagne-Faye netted his first goal in Wanderers colours just ten minutes before the end of the first half.
In truth a youthful City team looked the better side against a Wanderers team containing half a dozen first team squad members including Faye, Ian Walker, Fabrice Fernandes and Jared Borgetti.
