Newcastle born Sinclair joined Bolton Wanderers in the summer of 2004 after being released by the Sunderland youth Academy.

The former Northumberland Boys player scored goals for fun as a striker during his teenage years but it is a successful conversion to right wing back which has helped his progression in the game with the Wanderers.

Midway through the 2006-07 season he moved to right wing back for the Bolton reserve team and took to this position immediatly, so much so that his late season form culminated in the reserves winning their first league title for 12 years.

His only previous experience in the first team came in January 2006 when he was named as an unused substitute for Bolton's FA Cup win at Watford but this all changed towards the mid point of 2007 when he was handed a baptism of fire as a substitute in the daunting surroundings of Stamford Bridge as the Trotters held Premiership holders Chelsea to a 2-2 draw.

Up against England midfielder Joe Cole, the youngster played out the final quarter of an hour in London and made one or two crucial blocks in the process.
