Sevilla 3. Bolton Wanderers 0.
By Mark Heys August 10 2006
The final pre-season fixture away from the Reebok Stadium ended in disaster for Bolton Wanderers as they where beaten 3-0 by Sevilla earlier tonight.
South American Luis Fabiano helped himself to a hat trick as the Wanderers where still left looking for a victory since resuming match action just over three weeks ago.

Wantaway striker Jared Borgetti started the game for Bolton and he nearly put them ahead within the first few minutes. Skipper Kevin Nolan lifted in a cross from the right into the area but the ball proved to be just too high for the Mexican to force Sevilla goalkeeper David Cobeno into making a save.

On five minutes the Spanish side took the lead when Fabiano headed home a deep cross from Kepa Blanco past the Trotters goalkeeper Ian Walker. This early effort by the Brazilian front man proved to be the sign of things to come for the rest of the evening.

Borgetti then combined well with fellow striker Diouf in an attempt to bring Bolton back on level terms but the experienced goal getter saw his shot just shave the top of Cobeno's crossbar.

Moments later in the 27th minute Fabiano recorded his second goal of the contest when latching onto a superb through ball by team mate Jose Luis Marti. Wanderers keeper Walker could do little to foil the former FC Porto man when he found sight of goal.

Six minutes before the hour mark the game was effectively over as a contest as Fabiano completed his nights work by netting a superb swerving shot which left Walker stranded.

Bolton introduced Stelios Giannakopoulos and youngster Nathan Wolfe in an attempt to restore some pride and speedy USA youth star Johann Smith was also given another chance to impress in the final period but neither of those players could find a way past Cobeno.
