QPR look to leave loftus Road

loftus road
By Andrew Gray October 12 2005
QPR have declared that they are looking into the chance of building a new ground. The r's have been at loftus road for quite a number of years now and if they were lookign to push for the premiership then a new ground is definatly in order.
QPR have been at loftus road for a number of years and if you're honest it's starting to show it's age. up to 1000 seats have obstructed views and quite a number have severly obstructed views. A number of years ago the R's put in proposal to move to a plot near wormwood scrubs which was turned down. In recent years many clubs have moved into new homes with spacious seating and better facilities. just an example is the city of manchester stadium, or the emerites stadiumfor arsenal. Teams such as reading, coventry, stoke, southampton and leicestern have all dug deep to pay for their new grounds. the only problem that R's fans have been stating is their concern that spending a substantial amount on a new ground could easily cripple the club financially. only a number of years ago QPR were placed into administration from bad managemnet of the clubs finances. now administration brings the penalty of a 10 point deduction as well as all the other factors that go towards it. as everyone saw last year wrexham go down after being deducted by ten points. Loftus road was recently valued at £20-£22 million. the price of building a new stadium iun london will be substantially higher then that. unfortunatly building onto loftus road is near on impossible diue to where its situated. another major problem is the present Rangers board. with the FA lookign to investigate gianni paliadini in the near future any progress is likely to go slowly.
