As manager Mark Wright makes his Chester return in blue - Peterborough blue, I hasten to add - Keith Curle learned on Sunday that Tom Curtis and Phil Bolland will miss the much anticipated encounter due to suspension. Curtis and Bolland have both received 5 yellow cards this season, and for the latter, he received his fifth upon return from a groin injury.
And in addition, Curle will also have to make do another key figure on Saturday, namely Gregg Blundell. Blundell has benn sidelined for eight weeks following consecutive injuries to his face and thigh.
It leaves Curle with a squad of 17 to pick from, unless he can bring in a loan player before 5pm on Thursday.
“I’ve been working tirelessly to try and sign a player before tomorrow’s loan signing deadline.
“I’ve been in touch with a number of clubs and I can confirm I have been looking to sign a midfielder, but I’m not prepared to reveal the name of the player at this stage.
“One thing I won’t do is just sign players to fill my changing room. I only want to bring in people who can improve or bring a different dimension to my side.
“I can’t afford to carry people or just fill up the changing room with extra bodies.
“The ideal scenario would be to have a wider choice of players to choose from in my squad, but I’m faced with the choice of signing one good player rather than three players of a smiliar ilk to what I’ve already got.
“Everyone must understand that I am quite happy with the players I have and they have put the club in a great position in the league at this stage of the season.”
