Hemdani happy at Rangers says McLeish
By Mad September 16 2005
Former Marseille captain Brahim Hemdani is happy at Rangers and is desperate to make his competitive debut, according to Rangers manager Alex McLeish.

Hedmani has not played since picking up and thigh strain during pre-season.

Reports had suggested that Hemdani was unhappy with life with Rangers and that his agent was set to jet into Glasgow for showdown talks with the club.

But McLeish said: "I've spoken to him and he's enjoying Rangers."

Hemdani's persistent injury problems had also sparked speculation that the 27-year-old midfielder was unwilling, rather than unable, to play.

"He's most definitely happy and can't wait to play in the first team in front of the fans," said McLeish.

"He's a different personality from other people.

"He's a quiet lad and we have to respect that. Everybody can't be the same.

"We've got to take Hemdani for the idiosyncrasies that he has and that he will make a good contribution to this football club."

Hemdani will not play in Saturday's Scottish Premier League meeting with Kilmarnock and McLeish remains unsure when the French Algerian will be ready for first-team action.

"He's not ready yet," said McLeish. "We will be trying to get him over the little thigh strain he has to train him to a level where he's not going to have the injuries again.

"I hate nailing down a specific date because of the number of times we have passed it.

"He did his groin in the Ipswich game, came back and played in the Hamilton game and nicked a thigh muscle.

"We put it down to the fact that he didn't play a lot of games last year."
