Franny Wants Gers Stay

Rangers
By Mad September 10 2005
The Charlton striker has joined the Scottish champions on loan until January, after turning down the likes of Norwich and Sunderland.

The 24-year-old Englishman has denied the idea that he is only at Ibrox in a bid to put himself in the shop window for a big move back to The English Premiership.

Former Everton and Arsenal man Jeffers is looking to prove a point at Rangers, and says he would consider staying with Alex McLeish's side if his stay goes well.

"Definitely not," he said emphatically. "I had other options on transfer deadline day to stay down south but I wanted to come here and do well.

"I don't know what Charlton have planned but I certainly hope to make a big impact here and see what happens in January.

"If Rangers are willing to keep me and everyone is happy then I would be willing to stay."

Jeffers has not made the most of what promised to be a great career after he left Everton to join Arsenal in a £8 million deal back in 2001.

With UEFA Champions League football to look forward to at Rangers, Jeffers hopes to rebuild his reputation

"The last couple of years haven't gone as planned," Said Jeffers.

"The first couple of years at Arsenal were ruined through injury, I felt.

"This is a new chapter, it's an exciting time in my career and I'm at a massive football club.

"It's a big stage for me to impress on and get my career back on track."
