The Jimmy Walker vacum dominated 2004-2005. The irreplaceable Jim Walker - was - quite literally - irreplaceable. Deano was signed up as McKinney and Paston failed to make their mark. We all thought he'd remain as our number two until Murphy (who was on-loan from Albion) returned to the Hawthorns. Little did we know that Joe Murphy was going to be judge, jury and executioner to punish the light footed Keigan Parker for his penalty box theatrics during the Bloomfield Road clash against Blackpool. Following the dismissal of Murphy, Deano stepped up to the plate and saved the penalty with his first touch. It was a game where he would go on to make a second save later on. As it stands, most people will forget the scoreline - but will forever remember his double penalty save. He played in the following game and then returned to the sidelines when we signed Andy Oakes. Deano starts 05-06 as our number two keeper, but a number 2 keeper who we know will be up to the job should we need his services.
Deano is a noisy keeper who commands his area well. His shot stopping ability by far outweighs his kicking and his throwing.
