So it was a switch to 4-3-3 with Merse and Ropes out injured, but sadly still no change in fortunes. Jorge Leitao was recalled and Deon Burton also started after missing the defeat at Ipswich due to a neck injury.

We did take the lead early on when Burton was brought down in the penalty area by Tony Warner, after the Jamaican had latched onto an excellent through ball from Steve Corica. Warner escaped with a booking but was helpless to stop Aussie Corica firing us ahead from the spot.

Although we were in the lead we spent long periods of the game under pressure, unable to break free and create chances freely.

Our lead was short lived, when we failed to deal with yet another ball in to the box and were punished - yet again. This time it was Ward who out maneuvered his marker to head home a Dennis Wise free kick.

Millwall went on to create plenty of chances during the game with Harris looking as potent as ever, while the lively Ifill is a handful whenever he plays against the Saddlers.

Darren Wrack succumbed to injury and was replaced by Lawrence, with Bazeley switching to left back and the former Bradford man playing at right back. With Merson, Roper, Matias and Wright already out with injury, the Saddlers were then struck by an injury to Danny Hay, which saw him replaced by Stefan Oakes.

The game was settled by a penalty just moments later. Oakes was harshly adjudged to have brought down Ifill - who had in fact got up to get on with the game – and Neil Harris won the game from the spot. He had to retake it because of encroachment, but still managed to slot the ball away.

Paul Ritchie was red carded after the game, and will be subject to a Police Investigation following an incident in the tunnel.
