Harrogate 17 Nuneaton 23
By Coventry Telegraph October 6 2008
FLY-HALF Rickie Aley kicked 18 points as Nuneaton picked up their first away win of the season to leave themselves in fifth place but just a point away from top spot in National Division Three North. The accuracy of the on-loan Aley's boot, making Harrogate pay for every indiscretion, proved the decisive difference as home kicker James Murray went into the game with a 100 per cent success rate

but had a disappointing afternoon.

Nuns trailed twice in the first half before pulling into a 20-12 lead at the break.

Aley kicked penalties on either side of an unconverted try by centre Mick Wainwright for Harrogate, and after prop Phil Swainston had claimed the home side's second try - this one converted by Murray - two Aley penalties levelled the scores by the half hour before winger Aaron Takarangi weaved his way through the defence for Nuns' only try of the game.

Aley added a fifth penalty to close the half, and although Harrogate - now with the elements in their favour - narrowed the gap with a 46th-minute Will Tattersall try, Nuns were rarely troubled again as their forwards competed strongly and they sealed their victory with an inevitable Aley penalty 12 minutes from time.
