- so let's show them how much the game and Coventry Rugby Club mean
to our city and repay their faith.
Yesterday afternoon the fund stood at an impressive £32,458. But we need to stretch that to £100,000 to lodge as a performance security bond with the RFU for them to allow the club, founded in 1874, to keep their place in National One and avoid an eight-level drop to the bottom of the league ladder.
All contributions must reach the appeal fund's Coventry Building Society account by Noon on Wednesday, so we ask all those who want to support to get along to their local branch this weekend and do their bit to make sure the club is there for future generations of young city rugby players.
Club supporters will be spreading the word to city centre shoppers tomorrow. Courtesy of Lower Precinct centre manager Mark Dixon, fans are manning a stall opposite the entrance to Sherbourne Arcade throughout the day to drum up support for the appeal fund and answer questions.
There will be a bucket collection linked to the appeal and the Charlie Ramsey Research Fund registered charity.
