Parkinson Enquiry
By Matt Jones March 15 2005
Former Tranmere Rovers and Liverpool winger and striker Andy Parkinson could be on his way back to the Merseyside area (ish) to play for Chester City FC.
It has been reported this morning, that Tranmere Rovers legend, Andy Parkinson could be returning to the Merseyside area (ish) to play in Cheshire with Chester City FC. Ian Rush was reported to be very impressed by the Striker/Winger's assist against Chester earlier this season when Chester visited Grimsby only a few weeks ago - Chester lost the game 1-0.

Parkinson, who has been struggling to get a regular place at a few clubs since sustaining an injury at Tranmere when at the hieght of his carear a few years ago. Since, Parkinson has been on the books at Sheffield United, Notts County and the club he is now with, Grimsby Town.
Parkinson is a free agent in the summer, and Chester are reported to be intrested in him.

At his prime, Parkinson was the best winger in Nationwide Division One (now Coca-Cola Championship), when playing for Tranmere in the late nineties and 2000/01 season. He was very quick, could skin any player, had a hell of a cross and was a very good finisher. He scored some great goals in his time, but none can be better than the one against Middlesborough in the Worthington Cup 1999/00 season, the season Tranmere reached the final. Parkinson recieved the ball from the keeper and ran the remainding 3/4 of the pitch in just over eight seconds before a fantastic finish - this remains my favourite goal to date.
