Preston's excellent form continued as they moved into a play-off place tonight after a well fought 2-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle at Home Park.....
Preston arrived at Home Park full of confidence to take on a Plymouth side desperate for three points.
It was Plymouth though who started the game the brighter of the two sides with several half chances in the first 30 mins.
But it was Preston who took the lead after a good attack from Plymouth nearly resulted in them scoring, Preston quickly broke finding Sedgewick on the edge of the area, he then majesticly chipped 6'5" Argyle keeper Larrieu, to put Preston 1-0, now weather or not the Preston midfielder meant it as a shot or a cross to Agyemang only he will know.
Five mins later Preston made it 2-0 when a pass back from Plymouth defender Worrell was woefully short and Agyemang raced onto it and cooly finished.
The second half started with Preston obviously thinking the best form of defense was attack, as they went to kill the game off totally, A wicked free kick from Lewis is inches wide, and a Chris Lucketti header is just over the bar.
Plymouth were never out of the game though and looked at times very threating with Evans having a good chance from a Capaldi cross, but good defening from Hill expelled any danger, Plymouth continued to look for the goal that would bring them back into the game, but the North End defense was on top of its game today and stopped most atttacks and what they missed keeper Lonergan sorted out
Towards the end Nugent nearly opened his Preston account but his curling shot was superbly tipped around the post by Larriue.
This was a battling display by Preston as they were made to work for the full 90mins for the points, three points which lifts Preston into the play-off places.
