Reserves 2 – 0 York City
By Nick Raynor March 5 2005
Lewis Guy did very well for Rovers Reserves on his debut, scoring both goals in Doncaster’s 2-0 victory.

Rovers immediately took the lead on 2 minutes when Ricky Ravenhill put a through ball for Guy to run onto, who rounded the keeper and slotted home to start an impressive debut.

York tried to weather the storm as Rovers pounded at the goal, Albrighton heading a corner just over on 18 minutes.

City were clearly nervous and on 24 minutes, Rigoglioso hit a 35-yard free-kick low and hard towards goal which the keeper could only palm upwards and Jackson was unlucky not to score the rebound.

Just 2 minutes later, Guy was through again. The York ‘keeper did well to force him to the byline but he passed low for Jackson to tap-in but somehow the post rescued City

Guy was in the spotlight again, skinning 3 York players, playing a 1-2 with Ravenhill but firing just wide.

Rovers went in at half-time, unlucky to be just 1-0 up, but hungry for more.

Jackson, struggling to score received a good pass early in the second half from Lewis Guy but Stockdale made a good save. Jackson had another chance a minute later but slipped in the box.

Jackson was greedy later on, shooting when a pass to Guy would have surley created a second for Rovers but Jackson’s shot was tipped over the bar.

York nearly got back in the game, Baynes’ 25-yard-screamer rattling the crossbar and being put out for a corner

2 minutes from time, Hansen slipped a ball to Guy who took it round the keeper and slotted his second goal on his debut; an exact copy of the first goal.

FINAL SCORE: 2-0
