FDSW Swimming Update

DSE National Junior Short Course Championships March 3^rd – 4^th – A squad of 16 swimmers have been selected for the National event to be held in Ponds Forge International Swimming Pool, Sheffield.

Learning Disability Registrations – It’s been brought to my attention that S14 (Learning Disability) Swimmers who wish to compete at this years DSE Long Course Championships on May 18^th – 20^th, 2007 must hold a current INAS-FID April 2005 approved registration. The UKSAPLD registration is not applicable to this event. For more information contact the Office.

Welsh National Short Course Championships – The first FDSW National Short Course event took place at the South East Regional Swimming Pool at the International Sports Village in Newport recently. It was a major success with 115 swimmers entered.

A special thanks goes to the Organiser, Rhys Roberts for his sterling work.

FDSW Swimming Academy – Application forms and selection letters will be sent to the successful swimmers later this week. A proposed Training Camp will be arranged soon.

IPC Swimming World Championships, Durban South Africa – Just to confirm what we already know, that Welsh swimmers contributed hugely towards the fine GB display in Durban before Christmas. Congratulations go to all our swimmers, and I’m sure you’ll join me in acknowledging their achievements:

GB Team won 24 Gold 14 Silver 14 Bronze

Topped the Medal Table - GB No. 1 in the World

Welsh Medals 10 Gold 1 Silver 5 Bronze

Welsh Swimmers contributed 41% of the Gold Medals won.

Welsh Swimmers contributed 30% of overall Medal Haul
