IPC World Swimming Championships 2006 - Day 4
Dragons D.S.C. Coach David Roberts won his third Gold medal at the IPC World Championships in the S7 400m Freestyle. He was just short of New Zealand’s Dean Booth’s World Record set in the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games of 4:53.75 but did record a new European time of 4:53.80. Good friend and team-mate Andrew Lindsay made it a GB 1-2 by picking up the Silver in a fantastic time of 5:01.66. China’s Rong Tian won the Bronze.

Danielle Watts won another Gold by taking the S1 50m Backstroke in a time of 1:22.26, just short of her own World Record. Mathew Whorwood picked up Silver in the SB6 400m Freestyle which was won by Sweden’s Anders Olsson. Former Dragons swimmer Gareth Duke finished 6th in the same race. James Crisp won his second individual Bronze in the SM9 200m Individual Medley.
Former Dragons swimmer Nyree Lewis won her second Gold of the championships in the S6 400m Freestyle in a time of 6:04.46. Claire Cashmore won Silver in the SB8 100m Breaststroke clocking 1:27.98. Jim Anderson picked up a second Silver in the S2 50m Backstroke, losing out to new rival Dimitry Kokarev. Fran Williamson set a new British Record to win the S3 50m Backstroke Gold in a time of 1:04.36. Former Dragons swimmer Rhiannon Henry won her first medal of the championships by clinching Bronze in the S13 100m Butterfly.
