UK School Games 2006, Tollcross Leisure Centre, Glasgow, 7-10th September.
Dragons DSC swimmer Sam Bateman represented Wales at the inaugural UK School Games held in Glasgow. The Head coach of the Welsh team, which also consisted of Swansea Stingray's swimmer Adam Bendle, was our very own Head Coach Peter Key.
The UK School Games is described as:
"The UK School Games is a multi-sport event for the most talented young people in the country of school age.
The Games will be comprised of five sports in the first year, athletics, swimming, gymnastics, table tennis and fencing plus disability events in athletics and swimming.
Each of the five sports will be combined into a four-day Games in an environment designed to replicate the feel of major events such as the Olympic and Paralympic Games." UK School Games Official Website www.ukschoolgames.com

Speaking of Sam's performance, Peter Key said,
“He was excellent his behaviour was impeccable and he was a credit to himself his family and the Dragons as well as Welsh swimming. He could quite easily have been fazed at such a big meet and also with so many able bodied swimmers but he coped well.”

Congratulations to both Sam and Adam and also to Peter for their achievements in Glasgow.
