After lots of specualtion that Crewe striker, Mark Rivers will be signing with Tranmere, Crewe boss Dario Gradi now claims Rovers have lost interest in the striker. The former Norwich City player has been told he can leave Gresty Road, but now he looks set to battle for his place.
Total Tranmere .co.uk – Our News, Your Views Crewe Alexandra striker, Mark Rivers was told he can leave Gresty Road on a free transfer, which sparked speculation he was set to complete a transfer to Prenton Park. But in recent weeks, Tranmere have seemed to lost interest, after securing the signature of another striker, Chris Greenacre from Stoke City. Even though, Rovers did sign Greenacre they were still hotly tipped to win the signature of Mark Rivers, but Crewe manager Dario Gradi claimed Tranmere had all but lost interest. He said: "Tranmere were interested in Mark apparently, but they have not expressed that to me recently and he is still here. "I have said to him if he wants to leave he can, but he is still part of my plans in that he is fighting for a place up front." But it now looks almost certain that he will stick his neck out and battle for a first team place ahead of new arrivals at Gresty Road, Juan Ugarte, Luke Rodgers and Eddie Johnson.
