By MikeyB August 28 2008

Ronnie Moore earlier today gave his thoughts ahead of the clash against Northampton Town at Prenton Park this weekend. Moore brings the team news and his opinion about how Rovers have started this season.

 Ronie told Tranmere World...

"The away record doesn't tell the full story. At Swindon we were poor, but at Grimsby we created chances and there were a lot of pluses out of the defeat at Leicester."

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves because of our away form, like last season. We are hard to beat at home, that's for sure, but this is going to be a tough game. You don't go to Bolton and win if you're not a good side. We've got three home games to come and it's the time to kick on."

Ronnie Moore Dugout

"They play 4-3-3 so it will be a little bit like a chess game I imagine. You don't have the spare man in there when you're playing against another 4-3-3. This will be a competitive game. Whoever wins in the midfield will be the winners I think."

"Godwin is going for a scan today on his ankle injury. We just have to wait on that. Apart from that we've got a full squad to pick from and hopefully they're alllooking forward to the challenge."

"The squad is better. You look at the bench and you think you've got a chance of changing things. To be able to bring on Shuker and Greenacre who are first team players, and Ian Moore is to come back, you can make things happen."

Interesting comment about Antwi going for a scan.

If it comes back showing an injury likely to keep him out for a couple of weeks does anyone think we'll send him back to Liverpool and try and get a replacement before the transfer window closes? Or even better, cut our losses, give youth a chance and play the excellent Danny Holmes.

I wouldn't want to wish an injury on anybody, but I can only think that if this was the case it would be a blessing in disguise, I don't think he's a full back at any level and he'd be better at a club who'll play him at centre back.

As for Northampton, if they play 4-3-3, I'd drop George O'C, as I think we'll need three industrious midfielders and can't afford to have him dropping in and out the game, which he seems to do so far.

But O'Callaghan was much better than both Kay and Jenno last Saturday so who knows?

I'd like to see Barnett play though!

I'd go for Jenno, Barnett and Kay in the middle. Just because I think that that would (or at least it should) give the front three a hell of alot of freedom because they can all play as holding players and be steady plus thay all have good vision to play a pass. I am glad I don't have the dilema of having to pick the team though.

After last Saturday I'm not sure I want Kay in midfield at all. He gave the ball away far too much, putting lots of pressure on Goodison and Chorley at centre-back. Personally, I'd stick with the 4-3-3 for the home games but play Kay at right-back and Edds in midfield, with the only change from last week being the dropping of Sonko to bring in Greenacre.
