Rovers XI Take on Colwyn Bay in Friendly
By Deadly Submarine July 23 2008
As the tour of Welsh Clubs continues, a Rovers XI which is most likely to consist of youth team players and maybe a trialist or two, travel to Colwyn Bay tonight to take on the Unibond 1st Division side at their Llanelian Road Stadium on the North Wales Coast.
Rovers XI Take on Colwyn Bay in Friendly

As the friendly action continues to come thick and fast in the build up to the new season, tonight a Rovers XI, most likely made up of youth team players, continue their run of pre-season visits to Wales as they take on Colwyn Bay at 7.00pm.

After a 1-1 draw at Holyhead Hotspur just under two weeks ago, Rovers will be looking to go one better but most importantly gain some more fitness and training ahead of the forthcoming season.

With several of the youngsters who have now turned professional featuring in the first-team friendly at Southport last night and rumours that Ashton Taylor and Gerwyn Jones may be on their way out of the Club, the starting line-up and indeed the squad for tonight remains a mystery for the time being.

If you are travelling to the game, Colwyn Bay FC play in Old Colwyn which if travelling from Chester on the A55 is before you get to Colwyn Bay itself (Directions courtesy of Colwyn Bay FC Official Website)....

From the A55 (North Wales Expressway), leave the A55 at Junction 22, sign posted Hen Golwyn/Old Colwyn.  Turn left at the end of the slip road and follow the road up the hill to the roundabout at the top.  At the roundabout take the second exit (with the Marine Hotel on the left). Follow the road for half a mile to the brow of the hill and the ground is on the right.

We will have a report on the game right here later tonight so stay tuned.

If this rumour is true it is sad for the club as in my opinion both players would have gone to play for the first team. Both well over 6ft and athletic. I also feel that it would be a mistake for the players to go a "bigger" club, as their chances of breaking through will be slimmer. On the other hand Ronnie is not one known to give youth a chance.
