Tranmere survived going a goal down early on to comfortably beat Heswall in terms of the scoreline as they won 6-2.

After falling behind to an early Heswall strike, Rovers soon levelled through George O'Callaghan before going behind again.

A brace of goals from Gareth Edds and a strike from Steven Jennings saw Rovers move into a 4-2 lead before Edds completed his hat-trick late on and Greenacre added a sixth goal to make the scoreline at least look comfortable.

John Achterberg played the full 90 minutes in goal and most of the other players saw run-outs in this second pre-season game including a trialist at left-back.

We hope a full report on the game will follow from one of our regulars who attended the game so stay tuned!

Just thinking the same thing. Can somebody who got to Gayton Park give us a little info on the triallists...Luke Waterfall, Michael Brown & Barnett.

I know Waterfall is a teenage centre half from Barnsley, Brown is an Ozzie midfield player who spent a few years at Feyenoord, but Barnett, no idea, unless hes one of our kids being fast-tracked.

Just noticed that Ryan Fraughan played - fantastic, delighted for him - best passer in the youth team.

The future looks good,we are bringing good players through the ranks & looking to bring in good youngsters,it sounds as if Ronnie is building a good foundation for the future, instead of just looking for a quick fix

To be honest Wayne, I would be quite happy with a mid-table finish this season if it meant giving Henry, Holmes, Cresswell, Gornell and co. a go in the first team, then pushing for promotion the season after.

Just as most on here said we'll not play anybody as good as Liverpool after that friendly, i doubt we'll play anyone as bad as heswall either, so again it's all about fitness, we can't possibley judge if somebody wwill be a good full back or good cover against this competition. Just a run out try new things in particular this 4-3-3 Moore seems keen to try out.
Players and tactics etc will be a little clearer when we start playing some of the more evenly matched friendlies..

still though, nice to see 6 after the TRFC for a change eh
