By Deadly Submarine June 26 2008
Tranmere have today confirmed that there will be a total of three fixture changes during next season from the original fixture list released earlier last week. As a result Rovers will play two games on Friday nights and one on a Sunday afternoon later on in the season.
Rovers Announce Two More Fixture Changes!

Following on from our news story that we announced earlier this week, which confirmed that Tranmere would play a Friday night game against Colchester United in late September, the Club have today confirmed that a further two games have also been re-scheduled on Police advice.

As we reported earlier in the week, the game at home to Colchester United has been moved to Friday 26th September instead of the Saturday 27th due to the Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park on the Saturday afternoon.

In addition to this, Rovers' home game against local rivals Crewe Alexandra which had been scheduled for Saturday 25th October will now be on the Friday night (24th) due to Everton hosting Manchester United at Goodison Park the following day.

The third and final change to the original fixture list published last week is the home match against Bristol Rovers which was due to be played on Saturday 4th April.  Due to the Grand National at Aintree taking place on the same day, Rovers will instead host Bristol Rovers the followind day on Sunday 5th.

Speaking to the Official Tranmere Rovers Website this afternoon, Manager Ronnie Moore said: "We had a good record on Friday nights last season with three wins out of five so hopefully our good run will continue."

Any further fixture changes will be reported right here but in the meantime, here is a list of the changes mentioned above......

Friday 26th September - Colchester United (H) 7.45pm

Friday 24th October - Crewe Alexandra (H) 7.45pm

Sunday 5th April - Bristol Rovers (H) 3.00pm

I suppose it's only fair to move the Bristol Rovers game to a Sunday as opposed to having them travel here on a Friday night but it will be odd!

Not sure Mark if there will be any more. There may be I suppose.

We could have played the Colchester one on a Sunday to help their fans out too really I suppose!

No we couldn't, because the Merseyside Derby might be moved to a Sunday for Television

Well yeah and even if it was moved to a Sunday for TV, the Police would probably still have made us play it on a Friday to have the days gap.

The reason for the gap being Police Shifts etc.
