The most frequent perception of Burnley manager Stan Ternent is that he is a man who waits beside a football field waiting to be offended.

A perfectionist, he did not disappoint Ternent-watchers at Valley Parade, shaking his head at some of the decisions of referee Graham Laws, with whom a recent altercation means Ternent starts a four-match toucline ban this week.

All there was left for Ternent to lament was a David May 'goal' which had been ruled out and an unsuccessful penalty appeal.

However, results change everything and an injury-time winner by Ian Moore, a close-range header after Bradford defenders twice had chances to clear, gave Burnley a win that virtually puts Bradford down.

Bradford had recovered well from the shock of an eighth minute goal from their former player, Robbie Blake. The revived Danny Cadamarteri equalised in the 18th minute and bringing the save of the match from Brian Jensen in the 75th minute.

Burnley's Glen Little, watched again by Newcastle United representatives, shone with his brilliant control, superb close-quarter footwork and perceptive passing.

Bryan Robson is clearly making great strides towards making Bradford a force on the field again, and their performance was Top 10 quality; but they are running out of time, and with seven matches to go and 11 points to make up for safety this was their last hope of survival.

Robson, the former Manchester United and England captain, said: "That is the biggest injustice I have experienced in all my time in football. I feel so sorry for my players who just could not have given more."

Ian Moore struck in stoppage time to earn Burnley an unlikely win over Bradford and lift the Clarets out of the relegation zone.

He headed home Glen Little's cross to secure a first away success in 17 attempts, while heaping further misery on a Bradford side who seem destined for the Second Division.

Robbie Blake opened the scoring against his former club in emphatic fashion after just eight minutes, but Danny Cadamarteri's well-taken equaliser ensured the Clarets' joy was shortlived.

The goals came from strikers who have tasted contrasting fortunes this season.

While Blake's effort took his tally for the season to 20 - bettered in the First Division only by Andy Johnson of Crystal Palace and Cardiff's Robert Earnshaw - it was the first time in almost four months that Cadamarteri's name had been on the scoresheet.

Moore, though, had the final word, converting a rare Burnley chance in the dying stages of a game which Bradford dominated.

Although David Wetherall had a header saved by Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen in the early exchanges, Blake's goal represented the first meaningful effort on target.

He was released by Little down the inside-right channel and, after escaping the attentions of Mark Bower, unleashed a powerful shot into the roof of the net.

Peter Atherton tested Jensen with a left-footed drive before Bradford equalised in the 18th minute. Nicky Summerbee's superb cross-field ball found Cadamarteri, who cut inside Mo Camara and fired low past Jensen.

It was nothing more than Bradford deserved for their endeavour, and few would begrudge the hard-working Cadamarteri only his second goal of a season in which injuries have limited him to just 10 appearances before this match.

There was precious little action during the remainder of the half, with Blake's wayward free-kick the closest either side came to a second goal.

Dean Windass headed wide and Summerbee had a shot blocked by David May as Bradford emerged the stronger from the interval, and it needed a smart tip-over by Jensen to deny Cadamarteri in the 55th minute.

The introduction of Dele Adebola - signed on transfer deadline day from Coventry - for Richard Chaplow did little to enliven Burnley, who failed to register an attempt on goal until Blake sent a 65th-minute free-kick over the crossbar.

Jensen was called upon again shortly after to divert Peter Atherton's volley over, while Cadamarteri forced another fine stop out of the Dane.

The withdrawal of Blake midway through the second half reflected Burnley's lack of penetration in the final third, but Moore dealt Bradford a sucker punch in the first minute of stoppage time when he rose to convert Little's right-wing cross.
