Keepmoat Stadium
Hayter headed in from a well taken corner in the 47th minute, and there is no doubt Rovers thoroughly deserved the win after Leeds really didn't carry on from from where they left off in the second game against Carlisle. It was only five years ago when Doncaster Rovers were playing in the Conference, but Hayter's goal ensured Rovers of a third promotion in 5 years, it was in 1957 when Rovers last played at this level. Today's result, due to Leeds unpopularity was definitely a welcome one for many of the neutrals around the country, in fact to many it was probably the result of the season. Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll decided after the final whistle even though his lads were celebrating with champagne, a cup of tea was all he wanted. Doncaster Rovers with John Ryan as chairman left their Belle Vue ground in 2006 for pastures new. They moved in to the state of the art 15,231 seater Keepmoat Stadium, named after a local house building company, the stadium was funded mainly by public money and has become in a very short time a very popular community venue, hosting ladies football, concerts and even car boots. So with the new season coming Clarets fans will be able to visit another of the ever increasing newly built stadia, whilst Leeds United may, if the result tomorrow goes that way, be looking forward to visiting the dizzy heights of Spotland. |
