James O'Connor Leaves

Ginge
By Foreverclaret May 23 2008
Burnley FC have today announced that James O'Connor is to leave the club, he rejected the offer of a new contract as he feels he wants to try his luck elsewhere. O'Connor was signed for £175,000 from West Brom in October 2004, and he managed to notch up 149 appearances scoring 11 goals.

James is the fourth out of contract player to leave, the others were Jon Harley, Garreth O'Connor and John Spicer.

Andrew Cole was another who decided the deal on offer was not suitable, and David Unsworth although still to be spoken to by Owen has until this weekend to sign.
I am pleased though, that the youngsters that have been offered deals have accepted them, namely Jay Rodriguez, Adam Kay and Alex McDonald.
Also accepting his new deal was Brian Jensen, Kiraly was not offered a new deal and has been told that any offers for him will be considered.
coyle_020108_aThere has been suggestions that Owen Coyle is coming up short with the readies, he has stated recently that he will not pay over the odds, a stance which personally I applaud.
Owen announced recently that he has made approaches to five players in total, with Martin Paterson from Scunthorpe being the only one confirmed, there has been much speculation on the messageboards of late about who the others may be, players such as Gorkss, Elliott, Riordan all being mentioned to name but a few. It appears to me that there has been a lot going on already, and obviously more to come in the near future.
It seems quite clear to me that Owen has decided who he wants to bring in, and will be trying his best to secure the players in the coming weeks, it is early doors yet and some Clarets fans as is the norm are already getting anxious over the current state of play regarding signings. I realise we have heard it all before from the Board and the previous manager, but I do believe we have to give Owen a chance to build his own squad and take it from there, although I also recognise he will have to do something positive in the next couple of months or some of the fans will be getting on his back right from the kick off to the new season.
Good luck Owen in your quest for new players, it ain't gonna be easy.

Looks like he may go into coaching in the future.

He doesn't appear to have an axe to grind either- [www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk]
Good luck for the future.

Good luck to JOC I for one would have liked him to remain at BFC, he was a committed squad player who always did his best.

How can Coyle let Kiraly go (yes, I know the answer because he's crap, I'm being rhetorical) but keep the fat bloke AND give him a 2 year deal. Kiraly for me was always the better of two (very) poor goalkeepers. It just doesn't make sense.
