Statement from The Club
By The Longside March 5 2008
Today we have had the following official statement sent to us by Burnley Football Club. It highlights the recent issues that stewards have had to deal with, and how fans will have to suffer the consequences if they continue to behave in an unruly manner.

125 Crest (200)Burnley Football Club would like to bring to the attention of supporters the rules regarding drinking inside Turf Moor.

During the home game against Watford on Saturday, March 1, 2008, a number of supporters in the James Hargreaves Stand upper tier, centred on NU2, 3 & 4, persisted in taking bottles of alcohol into the stand, against the law.

This ultimately resulted in the plastic bottles being thrown and stewards, who were trying to enforce ground regulations, being abused.

One steward was assaulted, causing actual bodily harm and the culprit, who was later arrested, was assisted by other supporters who exchanged clothing with him in an effort to avoid detection.

It is not acceptable for stewards to be assaulted or threatened in this way and this type of behaviour cannot and will not be tolerated at Burnley Football Club.

Burnley Football Club would like to reiterate that this behaviour is not acceptable and could lead to a reduction in capacity of the ground by the authorities.

The club could also be fined, while the offenders, if found guilty at Court, will receive a life ban from Burnley Football Club.
