Tomorrow (2pm) will see Pertemps Bees and Bedford Blues battle it out for a place in the Powergen Shield Final at Twickenham. With both sides stuck in mid-table mediocrity, this is a vital game to revitalise a long season.

Recently, Bees have put up a good fight against Bristol and Plymouth but in each case haven’t managed to score even a bonus point. Bedford on the other hand have just about managed to creep past Sedgley Park, and have also lost to London Welsh. With neither side in any form at all, this will be a very interesting game.

The Bedford squad is as follows: Allen, Matt Brady, Shaun Brenton, Arthur Brooks, John Comb, Marc Hallett, Kieran Harris, Mark Hepher, Ali Hinkins, James Hinton, Leigh Johnson, Chris Lewitt, Ben Malone, Dom Moir, Craig Paramore, Junior Phillips, Jon Rainbow, Chris Ross, Joe Saayman, Weldon Staten, Mike Stewart, Matt Strauss, Nic Tonga’uiha, Soane Van Wyk, Jan Harm Vass, Ian Volland, Matt. This is a very strong side and backed by around 1000 fans, it will take all of the Bees efforts to turn around a result. Former Bee Leigh Hinton will return to Sharmans Cross Road and will be plotting the Bees downfall.

Bees will be without Luke Narraway and Ryan Lamb who have returned to Gloucester permanently. They should have back row forward Stean Williams available on the bench as cover for Nathan Carter. Tom Jordan is however cup tied. Bee loud, bee proud, bee Bees!

My prediction: Bees 23-21 Bedford
