St. Mirren 2-1 Inverness
By Jamie Cockburn August 21 2007
Saints recorded there first win of the season and first home win of 2007 after a fine 2-1 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle. New saint Franco Miranda made his debut and what a debut it was with a well taken goal. The other saints goal came from Marc Corcoran.

John Rankin and an excellent opportunity to send the visitors ahead in the first five minutes when a Richard Hastings cross fell to him inside the box but Gary Mason blocked his effort.

Rankin then set up Cowie 20 yards out but his shot fell wide of the goals.

Saints took the lead with there first shot on goal in the 19th minute through the debutant Franco Miranda.

Hugh Murray's lofted ball was missed by Ross Tokely, which allowed Miranda to chest it down and fired a right-footed shot inside Michael Fraser's near post.

Inverness new boy Marius Niculae nearly equalised with a long-range effort that was well saved by young keeper Chris Smith.

St. Mirren scored their second goal and Corcoran’s first goal of the season in the 55th minute.

Kean chased the ball that looked to be going out and set-up Corcoran in the box for an easy tap-in.

But three minutes later Caley got a goal back when Niculae delivered a cross for Cowie to slide the ball home.

Kean should have secured the win when he missed the target with a downward header that looked to be a sure goal.

In the dying minutes Kean missed yet another great chance to score when he rounded the Inverness keeper and sent his shot wide when all he had to do was walk the ball into the net.
